MUSINGS
Friday May 1, 2020 10:50 pmI have zero idea the direction this blog will take... other than what I want to start with, and that is a series on Netflix I just finished this morning. Because it is possible that someone reading this might actually watch the same series, I will not write any spoilers. The only things I will write about are things any person can look up and find online. For example: the third season does not actually end the show, unless it does!
As the final few episodes were playing out in dawned on me that there were so many loose ends it didn't seem to me that with the episodes left there could be a satisfying ending, like the "Lost" tv series, any and all of Stephen King's books! Great content throughout but with little regard to writing a satisfying ending.
So, with those thoughts in mind I paused and read about the show. It seems that Bateman had said when he first thought about the series that he never envisioned a long run, maybe four or five seasons? However, at this time Netflix has not even ordered a fourth season. Apparently because of the show's popularity it is expected Netflix will order a fourth season, but no deal has yet been made.
Having this new understanding I watched the last episode this morning. I will say only this much, with 60 seconds left in Episode 10 of the third season I thought it was 'Lost' all over again! Then... a complete surprise and believe it or not it was a terrific ending, even if there is not another episode ever made! Yet, if a new deal is inked a lot of great story lines remain to be written!
I will also happily report that every single person I wanted to see get killed off did, except for three, though one of them did get grievously wounded!
I'm not going to swear off starting another new series on tv, but I am going to start reading one of the many new books I have which I have not yet started. Although, I'm familiar with all of the authors I've chosen... having read one or more of their previous writings, I'm not holding out any hope that any of these books I will like enough to keep and place on my library shelf once I'm done.
I have finally pared my library down to a little under 175 books, which is by far the least number I have owned since I was a boy. But at the stage of life I'm at I'm certain I don't care enough for those I have kept to read them through again, yet, I like them enough to not just give away.
As I pause for a minute to think if I want to write more tonight or just quit, I realize tomorrow is Saturday... and I am DUMBFOUNDED that another week has passed!
I guess that's it for now, 'night everyone, I'm off in search of the book I'm going to start.
