OHIO RIVER

Monday January 7, 2013 5:05 pm

I just got home from the fossil beds as I had gone there for a short walk after I got off work. I am off for the next two days! The older I get the more I find I dislike my job... not this one particularly, just work in general I suspect.

There was nothing of interest I found in my quick sweep by the river's edge so I came home. Evidently we had been without power for most of the day. I think the house feels pretty good but apparently it's "freezing" to Deb? Go figure.

I just took a picture of the last fossil I found there this past summer and I will upload it after the video. On the video I briefly spoke about leaving a fossil on a trail in a park in Huntington some time ago? That fossil was different in that it was a really nice one from a dinosaur. (T-Rex to be exact.) Actually I made that last part up... about the T-Rex. It was a fossil from a dinosaur, that much even an ignoramus like myself could tell, but I'm not really sure which one? So, because I don't know for certain and therefore could not be proved wrong... it was a T-Rex :)

Tomorrow I am planning on either hiking or riding to another of my favorite spots along the Ohio River. Hopefully, that will be the spot that I record my next video from. I hope all who reads this has a wonderful night... especially all my friend(s)!!!

This first picture is my fossil from the top.

This next picture is from the bottom of the fossil. Well, to be fair, I am not sure which is top and which is the bottom? So, I guess the best I can say is that I turned it over before taking the picture.

After I first brought this home this past fall I did scrape some of the insides from it and I put it in my DNA sequencer and I tried to bring back to life what this creature was in the first place. You know, kind of like what they did with Dolly? I hope all of you know that the last sentence I wrote is complete CRAP... not about Dolly, that might or might not be true? I will say though if I had a DNA sequencer... and if they existed... and if that is what they would be used for... well, you can bet your sweet bippy I would have tried it :)
