JUST ANOTHER DAY(?)

Saturday September 14, 2019 2:07 am

When I was a kid (I had just turned 10) a new television series started: Batman. I loved watching it and playing along with the show. A neighbor boy directly across from where we lived had this great old basement with a large coal-fired furnace which was usually roaring because it was winter time (picture Tom Hanks neighbors basement in "The Burbs") and after we would watch the 30 minute show we would go down into his basement wearing capes (towels tied around our necks) and from the glow of the furnace we would act out what we had just seen.

I'm telling you that because at the end of every episode they had a catch phrase which was used as a reminder to tune in the following week. "... same bat time, same bat channel..." A few minutes ago I took Joe upstairs and I sat in a chair and watched him in the dark walking around and smelling the air as he picked up different scents, and I thought about things. I suppose I thought of that catch phrase because it is what I seem to do in life... you know, stuck: same bat channel, same bat time; over and over and over!

As Joe meandered about my mind was filled with random thoughts... Batman, life, dates, anniversaries, stupid things I have done, (that last one took awhile) Batman again, etc. I couldn't remember if "bat time" came before "bat channel" or vice-versa? I looked it up before I started writing this blog to be certain.

Of all things to think about that I did which was stupid I thought about a time I backed over a medium strip and into some flowers... as I drove away flower petals were strewn from my tailpipe onto the highway, stupid, huh? I suppose I backed into the flowers because whenever I drive I drive like Quincy from Mr. Magoo... another cartoon favorite of mine from my childhood. When I often do things like the flower patch I think to myself, "Oooh Magoo, you've done it again."

Well, to all the stupid people out there who are like me, and to those who might read this who are much wiser, I bid you both a fond adieu. Of course for those of you who read this and are really stupid... you will probably have to look up 'adieu' to even know its meaning. Ahhh, but to the wise ones (you know who you are) I bid you adieu and wish you blessed sleep and sweet dreams. Night :)
