PROVING GOD

Judges chapter six (KJV) Gideon decides on a plan to try and prove God. Amazingly, God goes along with his requests and it works!
That's what I'm doing with this blog. Only to those who know what the Bible teaches on the subject of salvation, i.e. being born again, and who have Biblically placed their faith in Christ do I intend this experiment.
I have an unspoken prayer request known only to me. So, there it is: at times, it need not be often, whenever this blog comes to mind pray for my unspoken request... as of this writing known only to myself and God. Thanks.
".... ...., .... .. .... ...... .. ...... ...... .... .. .. ..... ..... ....... ......., .. ..... .... ...." That is my unspoken prayer to God :)
WATCHING A MOVIE & OTHER THINGS

Earlier, with Joe at my feet, I began watching a movie... again. It's one I have started many times, but for one reason or another I have never sat through all of it. The voice-over in the opening scene begins with the main female lead speaking, "Dear .. ..... I began by counting the days, then the months. I don't count on anything anymore except the hope that you will return, and the silent fear that in the years since we saw each other..." (From those few words, do you recognize the movie?)
I suppose there are many reasons why I sat down to type this blog... not the least of which were the opening lines of the movie I quoted. Because of things like that my mind always surrenders to the passage of time.
Awhile back I read a great quote on a particular subject and I'll type part of that quote now. "... the sad part is, that I will probably end up loving you without you for much longer than I loved you when I knew you. Some people might find that strange. But the truth of it is that the amount of love you feel for someone and the impact they have on you as a person, is in no way relative to the amount of time you have known them." ~ Ranata Suzuki
To me, time, and its passage is always such a great mystery. Apparently God lives in a timeless eternity: and both times concept and its effect upon nature itself was only set in motion during the initial act of creation. This was done in order that a man would have a way to mark signs, seasons, days, and years. (Genesis 1:14 KJV)
2 Peter 3:8 (KJV) we are told about God, "... that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." Again though, He lives outside of time and in a state we call eternity. We though, as mere created mortals do not experience the benefit of eternity; instead we must partake of the crushing weight of the passages of time!
Time is crushing not only physically, although any reflected image shows the deleterious effects of the passage of time on a body. It's also mentally crushing as there are no ways to be found to slow it down. (Unless of course you resort to game playing and allowing that anything laborious or hateful seems to drag on indefinitely, and those things we take delight in, amusement, the company of loved ones, etc. passes far too quickly!) While that concept is valid, nonetheless, 60 seconds is the same regardless whether you are in the arms of your favorite person, or digging a deep hole to repair a broken sewer line!
There are many, many, things I love; sweet kisses from ones I love dearly, hearing a child laugh because something has enchanted them, hearing someone say, "I love you," saying to
someone, "I love you," petting a favorite dog as they sleep, walking in the snow on a frigid day, walking on the beach on a warm day, hearing and loving a certain voice, imagining heaven, red wines that are not too dry... yet not too sweet, (harder to find than you might imagine) reading a good book, listening to old songs, and a thousand more things that makes our existence tolerable, and at times even exhilarating!
There are three things I hate; death, hell, and time! In the end though all three of those things which are the enemy of all mankind will be passed away. The first two will be destroyed by God (Revelation 20:14 KJV) and "time" and the destructive force it presently wields will also, by the hand of God, one day cease to be! (Revelation 10:6 KJV) Thank God!
I feel the need to say something more: I was disingenuous about an earlier statement. (For other things I have written in this blog if there are lies within they were not done on purpose.) When I wrote, "..for one reason or another..." I implied I did not know the reason(s) for not watching; and because of my implication the reader would infer, and come to the conclusion the reason(s) for my reticence were truly unknown to me. That was a lie, I do know.
