FOREVER... AND EVER

Friday September 14, 2018 6:14 am

(Y)esterday brown was still thy head: is the opening line from a poem by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe as he describes the changing of the Swiss Alps that he loves as one season leads to another: brown, (summer) leads to silver-grey (snow-topped). However, this poem could also be understood from the perspective of a young person watching their beloved changing and growing older, as brown hair (youth) turns to silver-grey (old age). The final few words are... yesterday blends with today. Which is also an appropriate description of life passing.

(A)ristotle said, "The end of labor is to gain leisure." (Obviously I'm going to be looking both backward and forward in this blog as I'm trying to separate what has been before, to what is now... and hopefully what will be going forward.) I no longer have the responsibility of a job, but I do not yet have leisure... it's complicated. As an aside all that I write today will be stemming from the idea: yesterday blends with today.

(I)'ve found it impossible (in this early stage of retirement) to do nothing; so, myself and a friend from work, Bill... I thought it important to name him (lol) are starting up a business. I don't believe it will be especially profitable but it is interesting and it helps me to be as busy as I choose to be, and I've learned something new in the process. I converted my shed out back into a workshop and I have begun learning to make paper from blended pulp, grass, leaves, etc. and then using this newly made paper to transfer images. Afterward I will frame the finished product and offer it for sale. Perhaps at some future date I'll upload some of the work I've done?

(M)any are the times I look back and wonder what might have been? Then, I try and look forward and imagine if my past had been different... what might my present and future look like? However, to spend much time on that which is not is an exercise in futility. Yet, even knowing this truth doesn't always stop me from wasting time in that very pursuit. My overriding concern would be if my past could be changed then I might not have those I love with me today, and that I would not change for all the gold the world has ever known!

(H)appiness, contentment, joy, etc. are all worthy pursuits. I suppose? However, every one of those terms mean something different to each person. And because that's true I suppose it's unnecessary, and more importantly wasteful to pursue that which is unknowable and not possible to attain. Therefore, from this date and forward I propose to only look ahead... at least until next year. Sigh.

ONCE AGAIN MSM'S SHOW... THEY ARE THE ENEMY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

Tuesday September 11, 2018 10:40 am

As is my habit for the last 17 years I always turn on the news to see the many observances going on around the country, as we honor and remember those who died that day from a cowardly attack by a small group of heathen Muslims. For more than a decade now the most liberal news channels have zero to minimal coverage of the services going on this day of remembering. If any patriot wants to watch complete coverage throughout the day ONLY FOX news will have wall-to-wall coverage. In that regard it is very true what POTUS often says, Much of the free press in America really are THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!

I'll give an example of what I'm writing this morning. While FOX news was showing names being read of those who perished in New York, I switched over to MSNBC and they were talking about tattoos! I switched to another lib channel and they were on a story about a New England state having to do with weather! Yep, the lib news really are the ENEMY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!

I have a question: where were you on that terrible morning? We were at Disneyworld and our first morning there. We had arrived a day before and gone to the beach and then onto our rooms at one of Disney's resorts.... (at the word 'resorts' I paused, along with many true Americans, at 10:28 am to mark the exact time that 17 years ago the North Tower fell!)
We had connecting rooms and were all gathered together in one room watching television and trying to assess all that had happened. Within the hour of the second tower falling all the phones in our connected rooms began to ring. We answered and there was a recorded message that all Disney parks were closed for the day. No one at that early stage knew which institutions might be targeted and it was thought that Disney might be a viable target?

Today, as much as any other days I remain resolute in the knowledge that radical Islamists, along with many liberal news groups, and a lot of leaders in the Democratic party has been, and continues as ENEMIES OF AMERICAN PATRIOTS!

I hope all who reads this as long as you live remember what happened that sad day 17 years ago!

137 Days And Counting

Monday September 10, 2018 2:07 pm

I will admit I'm glad to be retired, although I freely state it is not all that I expected... or was hoping? Perhaps I was imagining more freedom? At least I am free from work... maybe in the end that will have to be enough? I just thought of a plaque I once read that said, "A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work." Soooo, maybe "a retirement without the expected freedom is still better than a structured job" will be my go to sentiment?

Since retiring I have been twice invited to events involving some of those I worked alongside at Lowes's: the first one I did not go because I had already committed to something else on that day. I did go last night to the second invitation and it was fun.

If not before Friday, I do plan on writing more about nothing four days from now; until then... I hope any who reads this has a good day.
