HAPPY EASTER SUNDAY!!!!!!! PLUS VIDEO
Sunday
March 31, 2013 5:33 am, 6:05 pm
I
would like to wish all of my friend(s) and much loved one(s) a very
happy Easter Sunday! I thought I would include a poem that is very
well written but it also has a message within a message. That is any
person can always tell false men of God by the pomp they have about
themselves. This particular poem condemns the catholic church.
However, keep in mind that all men who try to ascend to the level of
Christ, and as the devil himself wanted, “... to be like the Most
High...” those other men are also as bad as the Pope of the
catholic church.
Easter
Day by Oscar Wilde
The
silver trumpets rang across the Dome:
The people knelt upon the
ground with awe:
And borne upon the necks of men I saw,
Like
some great God, the Holy Lord of Rome.
Priest-like, he wore a robe
more white than foam,
And, king-like, swathed himself in royal
red,
Three crowns of gold rose high upon his head:
In splendour
and in light the Pope passed home.
My heart stole back across wide
wastes of years
To One who wandered by a lonely sea,
And sought
in vain for any place of rest:
'Foxes have holes, and every bird
its nest.
I, only I, must wander wearily,
And bruise my feet,
and drink wine salt with tears.'
Last
evening we had stopped by Steph's house for a few minutes and Rachel
and Hallie entertained us with a song. I thought I would like to pass
that along this morning. I will also include a couple of other
pictures I had taken.
Whatever
video I record for this Easter day I will add that this evening once
I get home from work.
In the above picture Hazel was just sitting by herself and looking at books... and in the one below I was holding Trinity so I held the camera out and took a picture of her adorable face :)
28 DAYS PLUS VIDEO AND PICTURE
Saturday March 30, 2013 6:11 am, 5:45 pm
Although I guess the title for my blog
this morning is also the same as the name of a movie... that is not
what I am writing about today. In reality I have two time periods I
am thinking about. One is past (90 days) and the other is upcoming in
28 days. I have a nice trip and a short hike planned in late April:
28 days!
Of course, having begun December 31,
2012 today is also my 90th day being vegan. I have three observations this
morning. First: this time eating only vegan has been far easier than
the other times I have ever tried eating this way. Secondly, I had
only intended to try this for a 90 day period: however, at least to
this time I do plan to keep eating this way until ??? (I really do
not know how long as I am not setting any stopping point today.)
Thirdly.... my how time flies!!!!!!!
I leave for work in about 30 minutes as
I open... yayyyyyy and then I open tomorrow and am off for two
days after that. When I go back on Wednesday I work three mid shifts
and then I am off once again for the weekend. Deb leaves tomorrow for
Hilton Head and will be gone for eight days. Because I will also have
the complete care of the dogs this week I could not have asked for a
better work schedule as this will allow me to be able to keep them in
a similar routine as to what all of them are used to doing.
My video for the day I will add to this
blog after I get home from work. I hope all my cherished friend(s)
have a great day today and a fun weekend... and as always: be careful!
I thought I would also include a love poem this morning from George Etherege. He titled this work, Sylvia
The Nymph that undoes me, is fair and
unkind;
No less than a wonder by Nature designed.
She's the
grief of my heart, the joy of my eye ;
And the cause of a flame
that never can die !
Her mouth, from whence wit still
obligingly flows,
Has the beautiful blush, and the smell, of the
rose.
Love and Destiny both attend on her will;
She wounds
with a look; with a frown, she can kill!
The desperate Lover
can hope no redress;
Where Beauty and Rigour are both in excess!
In Sylvia they meet; so unhappy am I!
Who sees her, must
love; and who loves her, must die!
(I will leave it up to you, my readers, to determine if this is a love poem or not? I actually believe it is and one that is well-written.)
Even after 8:00 in the morning...
IF WISHES WERE... PLUS TWO VIDEOS & TWO PICTURES
Friday March 29, 2013 8:13 am, 10:21 pm
To my friend(s) and those I love most... "Good morning." Now, onto other business.
Back to work! Now that is a dreaded set
of only three short words!!! I thought maybe this morning I would
tell everyone a joke, I'm not sure if it will make you feel any
better, but it might work for me?
Now, this joke works well either way:
in other words the person buying the lamp can be either male or
female. So that none reading this might imagine I have an agenda... I
have made my buyer a woman. lol
A lady found a lamp in an antique store
and it was pretty but a lot of grime had collected on it over the
years so as soon as she got home with it she started polishing it up.
No sooner had she begun then smoke started rolling out of the top and
in just a few seconds a large Genie stood before her. Graciously he
bowed and told her that for freeing him from his imprisonment, he
would grant her three wishes. However, he needed to know one thing
before they began. He asked, “Are you married?”
She said, “Yes I am, is that a
problem?” The Genie explained that it was not but she needed to be
aware of one thing. Every wish she asked for he would grant... but,
at the same time her wish was being fulfilled her spouse would get
the very same thing and ten times over!
“Okay,” she said, “I'm ready to
begin.” The first thing she asked was to be the wealthiest woman in
the world. The Genie reminded her again that if she had this wish
fulfilled that her husband would receive ten times as much. She
thought about it for a second and said that it was fine because he
still wouldn't leave her because she would still be the wealthiest
woman in the world. Just like that “poof” she was now the
wealthiest woman in the world, and her husband received ten fold what
she had just gotten.
For her second wish she asked to be the
most beautiful woman in the world. Again she was told that could be
easily done, but her husband would receive the same thing ten times
over. That was fine by her because once again, as the most beautiful
woman in the world who else could he turn to? “Poof” just like
that her wish was granted and her husband received ten fold.
“Now Madam, your final wish please,”
said the Genie.
The woman thought for just a second
before saying, “Could I have a mild heart attack please?”
HAHAHAHAHA
Whatever video I record for the day I
will upload it tonight.
When I pulled into my work lot this morning I saw this little guy all by himself in a big lot just walking around. Do you suppose he took a wrong turn somewhere?
This last video I actually recorded yesterday. Stella was all about driving a sleeping cat off of her dog bed. After the cat finally fled the room... she went over and lay down on her bed. This had already gone on for a minute or two before I realized what was happening and I could set my phone up to record.
All the while the cat was sleeping and Stella was getting ready to pounce... Virgil was sweetly sleeping on the couch.
TRAINS, GAME SHOWS, AND POETS PLUS TUNNEL VIDEO
Thursday March 28, 2013 7:31 am, 5:04 pm
I slept most of the night through,
except for having to get up a couple of times to let Virgil and
Stella outside. I know I dreamed last night but I can't seem to
recall any of it. Have you ever been trying to remember something and
you know it's right there... just at the edge of your recall, but you
can't retrieve it? Well, that's how it is for me this morning as I'm
trying to remember what I dreamed.
Recently I had a friend interpret
something I dreamed and since then I have been trying to remember my
dreams so I can check them out... but so far no luck in remembering
them.
After I finish this blog I need to
shave, shower, and get dressed as later this morning I will be
driving some students from our Christian school on a short road trip.
I don't have to leave the house until after 10:00 this morning so
after I am dressed I will probably take one of my short tests for
school and that will only leave two others for me and then I will be
done for another week. Beginning Monday I am down to six weeks of
school left and then I will be done until the fall semester.
Tomorrow I go back to work, ugh! I
suppose I ought to be more grateful as in a day when jobs are hard to
come by I have one that is decent. So, in that respect I am... it is
just that I (like many other people) have become tired of working.
Probably on the train today I will
record my video and I will add it to this blog once I get home later
today. Alright, I have some questions for everyone :)
Have you ever watched Let's Make A
Deal? Are you a safe person, or an adventurous one? If a person has
won a nice prize on that show already and then they are given the
chance to give up that prize for another that is behind a curtain...
do you root for them to keep what they've got, or risk it all for the
grand prize? I'm confident that I will never be on that show to make
such a decision... but this morning as I was thinking about life and
different things I know what I would do.
Before I finish this, I thought I would
include a famous quote about love by Lord Tennyson... one that I am
sure is familiar to all. You know, “Tis better to have loved and
lost, than blah blah blah blah blah...” Yep that one. I'm sorry,
but this morning I wasn't up to finishing that one. Instead, I
thought I would include one from that famous muse Shakespeare. While
it is true I understand and agree with both poets, I think this one
rings truer for me today. “The course of true love never did run
smooth.”
I was going to “tell” everyone to
have a great day today, then I thought of something on a comedy show
I saw recently and I decided to paraphrase one of the characters on
that show. “I know that if you are not already having a great
day... then me telling you to have a great day, will not cause you to
have a great day.” (lol) Even knowing that's true, I'm going to say
it anyway, Have a great day everyone! And most especially to my cherished loved one(s).

Wednesday March 27, 2013 7:43 am, 1:14 pm
Two more days and I am back to the
daily grind. I have been glad though to have had this week to be off.
Beginning Sunday I'm on another vacation... of sorts. Deb heads to
the beach for a week: yayyyy! (Lol) Actually whenever she takes off
for awhile it makes my week harder because I have to try and arrange
everything for the dogs. Most especially now as Virgil has different
meds he takes and at different hours of the day. However, it will all
work out as it always does.
On another note as far as being off
there is another benefit: I will have all of my school work done for
the week by tomorrow night. Speaking of tomorrow, I will be driving
the church van and going on a short trip with the school to Paoli as
everyone is taking a train ride.
This train has some fun excursions. In
the summertime they have a wild west hold up as cowboys riding horses
with guns blasting stops and boards the train. In addition they also
have a Polar Express run during the Christmas season. I have also
provided two more links about the Burton Tunnel which the train
passes through. At 2,200 feet it is a long time in the dark and I am
curious as to what some of the young children will do as we are
passing through it :)

I have found a great time to go to the
gym... last night (late) it was even better than Monday night as far
as few people being there. Well, that's about all the news that is
news... whatever video I record for the day I will upload that one
later.
I believe I am now going to go to the kitchen and fix myself a vegan pancake with natural peanut butter & Maple syrup. YUM! On top of my pancake I will slice a banana and probably make a smiley face on it... it's more fun to eat it that way :) I hope everyone has a great day!
33 DAYS
Tuesday March 26, 2013 10:27 am
I found a good time to workout at Planet Fitness in Clarksville, Indiana... any day after 10:30 pm. There was probably no more than 40 people working out last night when I got there and the guy behind the desk said that Monday's are always the busiest day of the week. I have to say though that working out is not as much fun for me as it used to be? There was a time, many years ago, that I could have practically lived at a gym... now, I find that whatever sets I need to get in I get done and then I'm out of there :)
Well, it's once again lightly snowing this morning and the weather in our area is still breaking records for cold temperatures... ahhhh, you just have to love global warming!
After I finish some of my school work today I plan to go shopping as I still have one particular item I am looking to buy. However, what complicates the matter for me is that... first: I'm not crazy about shopping, and secondly: I'm not altogether sure what I am looking for? Hopefully I will know it when I see it :)
To all my friend(s) and much loved one(s) I hope everyone has a great day today! And if it's cold in your neck of the world: remember... try to keep those hands and feet warm and toasty :)
The video was recorded several hours ago after I left Planet Fitness last night, and the picture of Virgil I took this morning as I was out with him and walking. You can see some evidence of the lightly falling snow on his muzzle :)
WEATHERMEN, WHAT GOOD ARE THEY?
Monday March 25, 2013 9:42 am
I imagine a person who becomes a
weatherman must have some training, right? If that is true, and it
must be... how can all of them be so often wrong and still keep their
jobs? In addition, most of their reporting is vague anyway. I mean,
how many calendar days are there in any given year when it is not,
“partly cloudy” or “some Sunshine.” Please, how is that a
report?
I know there are certain jobs,
especially in sports, like baseball, when you fail far more often than you succeed,
yet you are still considered successful. A 300 batter in the pros is
considered a star when he fails 70% of the time. But I would imagine
a person who is supposed to be able to give some idea of the type of
weather we are to have ought to be right more often than they are
wrong!
I understand that we all make mistakes
and do and say stupid things, that is just a part of being a fallible
human being. However, I don't think you ought to be able to make a
decent living as an abject failure at whatever job you are supposed
to be the expert.
When I thought of weathermen and
stupidity I remembered very recently something stupid I did and I
will tell you about it to show that I do understand that all of us,
weatherman included are just human. I normally do not carry many
things in my pocket when I am going anywhere. Typically I have three
things with me: car keys, billfold, and cell phone. I don't even
carry pocket change as I have a place in my car I drop all of it
there until I have filled the small cup holder and then I cash it in
somewhere.
The other day Deb was with me and we
were going to Walmart. I don't remember now if Missy called me or if
I called her... either way as I got out of the car and was walking
toward Walmart I was talking to her. I had taken maybe 30 steps from
the car and I did my little ritual to be certain I had everything
with me. I touched my back pocket... yep, my wallet was there. My
front left pants pocket... keys were in place. Wait... I was missing
something. Deb could tell I had forgotten something and I told her to
wait there and I would go back and get it. I told Missy I had to head
back to the car as I had forgotten something. As I was putting my key
in the door to unlock it I saw my reflection in the window and
suddenly I remembered where my phone was... it was against my left
ear and I was talking on it!
You know I just thought of something.
With the type of intellect I displayed in searching for my lost phone
as it was in my hand... I bet I could become a weatherman. In fact, I
am going to give my very first report for your area, regardless where
you live. I know considering that there are still people from some
foreign countries who read this blog that might seem like a stretch
for me, a novice, or wannabe weatherman to believe that I can predict
an accurate weather report in the many different regions. But, I
believe I can. Here goes, “In your area today, I predict there is
going to be weather.” There you have it, now let's keep our
collective fingers crossed and see if I'm right. I know that might
sound a little vague but no more so than “partly sunny.” Have a
good weather day out there everyone.
A little while ago I had gotten out of
my car after I dropped Deb off at school to get gasoline. When I came
back Virgil was in my seat and he completely ignored my several
attempts to call his name and get him into the other front seat. He
just kept looking forward. I guess he was thinking if he ignored me
long enough maybe I would just go away? I played with him this way
for a couple of minutes calling his name just to see how long he
would ignore me. Apparently his patience was going to be better than
mine and because I hadn't worn a jacket I was beginning to freeze, so
I tapped him on his side... a couple of times before he slowly turned
his big head to look at me. Now I was laughing as I pointed and said,
“get” and he did: albeit, rather slowly. He has always been so
much fun for me :)
This next video is our walk in the moderate, four to six inch snowfall we had this morning. It's really a beautiful sight, that amount of pristine snow might bring a tear to the eye of more than a few people.
BEARS, PORCUPINES, TIGERS & MORE PLUS BABY TIGER VIDEO
Sunday March 24, 2013 8:46 am, 7:31 pm
I will upload the video I take for
today sometime later this afternoon. The pictures and videos I am
putting on now were all taken yesterday. The first picture I am
including was taken yesterday in front of our house and it is of my
favorite animal in all the world... my dog Virgil!!!!!!!
One of the things that we did yesterday
was to go to a wild animal sanctuary. The man and his wife have had this
in the Charlestown area (about 25 minutes from our house) for the
last nineteen years. He has 11 tigers, lions, cougars, panthers,
grizzly bears, foxes, porcupines, a Lemur, and many other animlas.
Tammy, our oldest daughter, had sent me
a link when we were on our way to the movies so I called the number
and we made arrangemnts to go there after the movie was over. It was
a fun experience. I am going to provide the link for their sanctuary
just in case any of the people who read this blog might like to
donate to them. With the number of nimals they take care of they can
easily go through 250 to 300 pounds of meat every single day!
Sometime today I will add my other
video. I hope all of my friends and those I love the most has a great day
today!
In the video above while the guy was talking to a group of other people I had been reaching through the fence and scratching these two tigers on the tops of their heads and baby-talking with them. I noticed whenever I was doing this they would "talk" back to me. I thought it was really neat... the guy not so much. When he saw what I was doing he told me not to do that :)
We were allowed to get into the cage with a very young tiger to pet and play with him. He liked to play bite and even though he is a baby he is still very strong. One guy, just ahead of us, came out with a hand that was bloodied. I think Deb was afraid of the same thing so she wasn't quite sure :) The little guy got me once as I was trying to scratch under his chin but he only drew a few drops from me. In neither case was he trying to hurt... he only wants to play but even at a young age they are still very powerful.
I have a brief video I recorded of him and I will upload that one whenever it comes through to my mail. I quit playing with him and stepped back when the owner saw him get a little rough with me and I didn't want him to cuff the little cub because of it. Again, there was no intent on his part... just a playful attitude.
The next video is my one from today coming home from Planet Fitness.
39 YEARS PLUS VIDEO
Saturday March 23, 2013 4:58 am, 10:41 am
I remember when I believed that any
person who had lived for 39 years was old! I remember when I was 39
years old! I have now been married for 39 years! I am ancient!!!!!!!
lol
Last evening I was at a school function
and out of the 125 or so people who were there I was probably the
oldest person in attendance, other than the key-note speaker and
maybe one or two visitors? Of course, that fact is probably part of
the reason that I feel my age this morning. The other part of that
reason is probably due to the fact that 39 years ago today, and at
the age of 18 I became legally married. That is, in the eyes of the
state of California I had a piece of paper that said I was. (Although
we had been living together the previous six months before that date.)
We lived in Sunland, California and at
the end of the road where we lived there was a church and I stopped
in that one (because it was closest) and the pastor married us in his
church office. When he was done I asked how much I owed him? He told
me to give him what I thought it was worth? Well, based on that
statement I figured he owed me money. Lol
After we were officially a couple and
some pictures were taken... I took Deb to a very fancy restaurant for
a meal. I mean, any restaurant that had a set of big golden arches
above it had to be fancy... right? Many years after that on the same
anniversary date I took her back to that same restaurant (although in
different states) and we had the same meal: McDonald's Big Mac and
fries! Yep, I went all out in celebration! Lol
I hope all my friends and loved ones
has a great day today!!!!!!!
(I do need to make a correction about something that I said in the video which I just watched for the first time. This was a 6 mile 10k race. I actually called it a six kilometer race on this video.)
FIVE WEEKS
Friday March 22, 2013 3:20 pm
Today really does feel like it's springtime! Even the dogs have been able to enjoy some of this nice
weather. However, I did hear on the news that Sunday we are again
expecting a mix of rain and snow. I guess the cold is trying to hang
on for as long as it possibly can.
Tonight I have something I need to do
and then after that I am planning on spending a decent amount of time
at the gym. I am now down to five weeks and counting before my second
vacation begins :) Well, I hope all who reads this has a wonderful
day today!
SHAKESPEARE -- SPRING PLUS VIDEO
Thursday
March 21, 2013 5:58 am, 5:35 pm
Punxsutawney
Phil was wrong this year! Of course, I can't speak for other parts of
the country with certainty but at least in my small portion of the
globe we are setting records for low temperatures. Don't you just
have to love all this global warming :)
Nonetheless,
coat and all I'm still doing my best to enjoy this very early part of
springtime. Naturally I will enjoy it a little more once I scrape all
the frost from my car windshield and run the engine until my heater
gets warm. Today I open (my favorite shift) and when I get
off at 3:30 I begin my vacation and I will be off until the following
Friday!
I
am running short on time so I will not try and expound upon
Shakespeare's poem, “Spring” but I will copy and paste it for all
to read.
When
daisies pied, and violets blue,
And lady-smocks all silver-white,
And cuckoo-buds of yellow hue
Do paint the meadows with
delight,
The cuckoo then, on every tree,
Mocks married men,
for thus sings he:
'Cuckoo!
Cuckoo, cuckoo!' O word of fear,
Unpleasing to a married ear.
When shepherds pipe on oaten
straws,
And merry larks are ploughmen's clocks,
When turtles
tread, and rooks, and daws,
And maidens bleach their summer
smocks,
The cuckoo then, on every tree,
Mocks married men,
for thus sings he:
'Cuckoo!
Cuckoo, cuckoo!' O word of fear,
Unpleasing to a married ear.
Sometimes I get upset when I know I shouldn't. It is not because I do not trust God and believe that He is all-powerful and capable... because I know that He is. It is just that because I do not know His mind I seldom understand His will. Having said that I would just like to publicly thank Him for being good and answering several of my prayer requests this week in a wonderful way! Thanks, Lord... thank you very, very, much!!!!!!!
IT'S SPRINGTIME!!!!!!! PLUS VIDEO
Wednesday March 20, 2013 5:31 am, 8:16 pm
Hello everyone! All of us slept better
last night, including Virgil. Last evening after we got back home he
hopped up on the couch and slept for maybe an hour and last evening
he spent most of the night in the bed. I really am thankful that
yesterday was not his last day with us.
This new regimen I am on is helping me
a lot and although I have already missed one of the benchmarks I had
set for myself, I am hoping to get back on track today. One of my
goals for the last six week period was to get in at least one workout
everyday and yesterday I did not do that.
I hope everyone has a great day today
and I will try and add to this blog, including video, once I get home
from work tonight. Happy springtime!!!!!!!
IT'S A SAD DAY TODAY ): MUCH LESS NOW :)
Tuesday March 19, 2013 4:40 am, 9:09 pm
After I get in from work today and for the last time Virgil and I will get to do something that in the past both of us have enjoyed a few thousand times, we will take another car ride.
I slept with him on the floor in the living room last night because he is finding it increasingly difficult to even hop onto the couch or our bed. For several days I have been mostly lifting him up so he didn't have to... but this morning when I did he cried out a little, so I know for sure that he is now in pain and in my heart I know that neither of us want that.
It is 4:19 am and I just snapped the last picture I will take of him in my office. Deb had just fed him a little of the food he likes best, Alpo home-style canned food with veggies and that's why his mouth looks a little wet in the picture :) That is the type of food that is not supposed to be good for him but I guess that doesn't matter much now ): If he is up to it on the way to Dr. Moore's later today I will stop by Chiller's and get him an ice cream treat as well. (As soon as the picture I just took uploads to my email I will add it to this blog.)
Some time in the near future (hopefully) I will write a blog and tell everyone the important role that Virgil played in my deciding to ever write anything in the first place. For now I will just say that it was watching him play with another dog that caused me to have a thought... which in turn caused me (as I stood watching him play) to decide to write my first book. That book led to this blog and etcetera. Believe it or not, it was just that simple and that quick.
For a little while I will be taking a break from writing. During this time I pray that all those I love the best... and the most, will be safe and happy!!!!!!!
I am now going to post a short video that I took at Dr. Moore's as we were waiting to be called inside. In my heart I knew that this would be the last recording I would ever make and I had already planned on never watching it personally. I was just going to use it in a few days or weeks, or whatever time it took me to be able to write another blog. Then Dr. Moore looked at him and said if it was his dog he would take him home, "... and enjoy him!"
I had even worn my exceeding dark sunglasses even though the day did not warrant them as I knew I would be so very sad as I was carrying him to my car and I didn't want anyone to see.
So, I guess as far as being prepared I was... I'm just thankful that at least for another night my little guy is still here with us. Thanks for everyone's prayers. I honestly believe they were answered in a completely unexpected way. Virgil is not healed, but he is home tonight and I now have certain signs to watch for in Virgil so I can tell when he knows it's time. At least that way I won't have to live with the guilt and always second-guessing myself whether or not I did the right thing?
Scott's Funeral Home closed at five o'clock. Now I will have to call them and tell them at least not at this time. We do not own the house I live in and I didn't want to bury him in ground that someone else owns and I probably wont be living here a long time anyway. So, I was going to have him cremated. Again, thank God I do not have to do this... at least not yet.
Good night everyone... the honest truth is I am completely worn out tonight. It is not just not sleeping well. I think it is stress and not sure what I was supposed to be doing. One thing that is cute. You will see that Virgil was again pawing the ground... he was telling me he still had some fight, and some life left in him!
APPARENTLY LITTLE HAS CHANGED :) PLUS VIDEO
Monday March 18, 2013 5:14 am, 3:35 pm
I was awoken about 30 minutes ago by
the sounds of a thunderstorm :) I sort of like that because it means
that springtime is almost here. Even now as I type this I can hear
the sounds of thunder... a low and long rumble... it's nice.
So far with my extra workouts I am
beginning to lose again after having been stuck at a certain weight
loss. Once again it's encouraging for me. I wanted to pass a story on
to you, my readers, that I have only told one other person. It's
nothing really it is just that Saturday I was watching what I should
not have been, and wasn't watching what I should have been and I
nearly fell after tripping on the edge of a curb. The reason I am
writing this is to tell everyone a story that to the best of my
knowledge I have never told before told anyone else. Again, it's
nothing big I just guess it had never come up before... but the event
on Saturday afternoon caused me to once again remember it.
I was probably 14 or 15 years old? I
only know that I was not yet 16 else I would not have been walking
because I never walked anywhere after I was legally able to drive.
(Other than one time after I got my driver's license and on purpose I
had gone for a very long walk, but that was to sort of punish myself
for something stupid I did.) Anyway it was summertime and I was
walking in north Parkersburg to go and see my mom, she worked at the
N.E.T.
For some reason the traffic on that two
lane road was at a snail's pace and I was on the sidewalk and I was
actually walking faster than the cars were moving. I looked over and
a pretty young girl was in the backseat of an old car and all the
windows were down. In the front seat was a man driving and a woman
was beside him. I guess they might have been her mom and dad? She and
I made eye contact and we smiled at each other. Immediately I slowed
down and kept pace with her car and we just made eyes at each other
and both of us kept smiling yet neither one of us said a word.
I moved to the curb and began inching
along there and she turned her head toward me and rested her chin on
her arms and just kept smiling. Now, we were close enough that if she
would have reached for me our fingers would have touched. I remember
I was going to say something... maybe ask her name I don't know? But
all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I saw something that
looked like it was going to hit me and instinctively I threw my right
arm up to protect my face, and that's when I walked straight into a
telephone pole! Seriously!
Probably there were two things that
stopped me from getting knocked out. One, I was walking slow and
secondly when I threw my arm up it was now between my head and the
pole when I hit it. Talk about feeling stupid :) The car with her in
it soon picked up speed and moved on and as far as I know I never saw
her again. I guess when I have often said that I never grew up... I
really do mean that.
Jean-Baptiste famously opined, “The
more things change the more they remain the same. I guess that in my
life that is so very true: for in a sense, I have been walking
headlong into poles because of pretty girls for as long as I can
remember.
Well, I hope all my friends and those I love has a wonderful day today. This evening when I get home from work I will upload my video.
SEVEN SUNDAYS PLUS VIDEO AND PICTURE
Sunday March 17, 2013 5:44 am, 1:49 pm
One thing you can say for the
catholic church is that they know how to celebrate. I mean, who else but
the leaders of that church would lift all of the eating and drinking
restrictions which people place upon themselves for lent and on St.
Patrick's day say it's alright to go out and get drunk. Funny
stuff! I certainly hope all my friends wear their green today and
has a good day of celebration.
Yesterday was a pretty good day to
begin my last six week stretch to be able to reach my goals I have
set. Hopefully today will be more of the same with a couple of
workouts I am going to get in. Yesterday we topped out at 70 degrees
and today they are calling for another winter storm watch: the
weather around here is pretty crazy.
I also wanted to provide a link of something that you might want to avoid today as you celebrate St. Patrick's Day: McDonald's Shamrock Shake and its 840 calories. It's a pretty good read to see a complete list of all 54 ingredients and to see a comparison of what you could have eaten for the same number of calories. Yep, forget that: I'll be out looking for some green beer... just kidding :)

Later today I will write more whenever
I upload my video. Have fun everyone!
This picture is after we got back inside and Virgil was cold so I draped my coat over him. Deb had a blanket in the dryer and warming it for him and after that was out I draped it over him instead of the coat. It is very sad how either sickness or age robs all of God's creatures from even the simple things that was (in times past) fun. Virgil had always been a cold weather dog. Just a few years ago in this area we had nearly two feet of snow on the ground and I would have him out playing and he would leap into the air and come down in the snow and be covered up almost completely... and do this time after time. Now, my poor little guy just stands and shivers at the cold. I hate that so very, very, much!!!!!!!
Well, I guess it's time to get back to finishing a paper I started for the school. Were it not for Virgil being sick this is the type of day I would normally enjoy. I just took my first sip of some hot chai tea and it is snowing outside :)
42 DAYS & COUNTING PLUS VIDEO
Saturday March 16, 2013 5:44 am, 5:03 pm
Phase three: today I begin my six
week push to try and complete some of my goals I have set for myself.
Although I have, since December 31 been practicing vegan as my food
choice and I have been exercising I will take both of those to a new
level and I will push myself a bit harder so I can be certain to physically get to
the level I would like to be at.
In a few minutes I leave for work and
after work I will go to the gym for a workout. Soon, very soon, the
weather should begin to warm and stay that way for extended periods
of time which will also help me as I will be able to get in daily bike
rides. This evening I will add my video for the day. I hope everyone
who reads this has a great day! Tomorrow... I have a day off! Yayyyyyyyyyy!!!
SPRING IS ALMOST HERE
Friday March 15, 2013 10:58 am
It's a beautiful morning and the
weather is great! It's one of those days to lament that a person
wasn't born rich so that a job didn't control much of what they are
required to do in life and the restrictions that jobs put upon
choices.
In other words... I wish I had the day
off to do what I want :) To all those I love... I hope you have a
great day today!
VIRGIL AND PI -- 3.14 & 10 TRILLION AND STILL COUNTING :)
Thursday March 14, 2013 5:42 am
This morning I would just like to say,
“Happy 12th birthday to my little man... Virgil!” He is standing
beside me as I type this short blog. Just as I wrote that he lay
down... partly on his little stuffed tiger :)
I was wanting to record today's video
with him in it and I am still planning to do that, but it is dark outside
and I will have to wait until it is light enough to record. I bought him a small stuffed animal for him to play with and I am
uploading two pictures of him with that.
The first picture he had just carried
it from the living room where I gave it to him to my office and he
dropped it there. Now, as I finish this part he is snoring deeply. I
hope everyone who reads this has a really good day today.
It's hard to imagine how much time has passed since Virgil was given to me as a gift. To try and put into perspective how much time has elapsed... the terrorist attacks of September 11 were still several months away. (Job was right, the days of man upon Earth do pass more swiftly than, "... a weaver's shuttle..." and the end of that verse is also very true.
Of course, my title has to do with Virgil's birth-date, (March 14 -- 3/14) the sixteenth letter of the Greek alphabet... and the fact that Pi appears to be infinite? The last time I read anything about it the fastest super computers in the world has extended the decimal representation of Pi to more than ten trillion and still there is no end in sight and apparently no repeating pattern!
